First-Ever College Readiness Workshop at Fannie C. Harris Youth Center

Thirty youth participated in a College Readiness Workshop at the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center on Saturday, September 7th. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority brought their #CAP Program to the Center and coordinated an interactive learning event. Youth from Promise House, Kyle’s Place, EAGLE Scholars Program and other high school students participated. Students learned about college essay writing and the application process, navigating financial aid, and considering historically black colleges and universities. Local educators and recent graduates were available to answer questions and provide insight on what to expect from life at college. In addition to the wealth of information acquired during the workshop, students received backpacks and school supplies. A special thank you to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Omicron Mu Omega Chapter and the Legacy of Service Foundation for hosting this dynamic program!
