After8toEducate Collaborative Launches Pop-Up Outreach Events

With the Drop-In Center at the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center open, After8toEduate and CitySquare teams have been working together to coordinate outreach opportunities, meeting youth where they are, about services currently available at the Center. This coordinated effort led to two inaugural “pop-up” outreach events in August in order to bring awareness about the Center to locations where youth may be eligible for services.

Pop-Up at Aurora Project took place on August 7 at Life in Deep Ellum. Aurora Project is a program of OutLoud Consulting, providing opportunities for youth to express themselves creatively and learn to amplify their voices. After8toEducate and CitySquare staff presented to participants on the issue of youth homelessness and explained the services offered at the Drop-In Center. Thank you to OutLoud Consulting for the opportunity to “pop-up”!

Pop-Up at Pleasant Oaks occurred on August 9 at Pleasant Oaks Recreation Center during the TRec program for youth. Earlier this summer, Dallas Parks and Recreation Department began offering late-night programming for Dallas teens at five local recreation centers. After8toEducate and CitySquare teams provided dinner, sponsored by Ruthie’s Food Trucks, and offered activities for teens in the Pleasant Oaks neighborhood.
